Scarborough Lights - 2011 Christmas Spirit

How Christmasy we all feel now, it happens every year, the first weekend in December, and it makes you feel all warm inside !
This time of year when we remind ourselves to think of one another and give love and joy. No matter what your belief, we can never do without enough tolerance, love and hope for a "better" in the world.

A Street Parade full of fabulous

To quote a little Dickens
"...I do confess, to have had the lightest licence of a child, and yet to have been man enough to know its value," the children's smiles were so fabulous, the bigs kids too.

There were markets with lots of variety, from Himalayan lamps to children's light sabers and homemade soaps.

Bubbles

Boats

and tea cup rides.
Friends frolicking with kites

Rides and music too !

On into the night

The weather can be such a rascal for these sorts of things, last year the festival was
washed out.  This year, even though Mr Wind played havoc, onward and upward the fireworks eventually went. They were so magical, I do love fireworks.
So, Thank you, we are very proud to be one of the sponsors of this splendid event ! Scarborough Lights is something the local businesses put on to give all our lovely loyal customers and local residents a big thank you and Merry Christmas. Huge thanks to Danny and Sue and all others directly involved in the hard work behind the scenes and the major sponsors for putting on this wonderful event.
Merry Christmas to everyone xx

Melbourne Cup 2011 - Reef Point Cafe

Another successful Melbourne Cup lunch provided by the fabulous people of Reef Point Cafe. Thanks Mandy and all the rest of the staff. With fabulous clothes from Abby Lee for the amazing fashion parade, we were honored to be invited to include a display from Shoes on Scarborough. Whilst we couldnt be there this year we heard the five course menu was delicious and everyone had a most delightful day. Please enjoy some pictures from the day.

The Great Gatsby Picnic and Redcliffe Festival

This weekend in September was a huge one on the Peninsula, not only was The Great Gatsby Picnic in Scarborough. There was the Redcliffe Festival (first settlement) at Suttons Beach, the World Waterski Championships and the Offshore Super Boats Championships as well.
The Queensland Vintage Vehicle Association holds The Great Gatsby Picnic every year, and we are lucky enough for it to be on the lovely Scarborough Beach foreshore. With media prescence on the day, The Great Outdoors of Chanel 7 ran a fabulous episode featuring the picnic and the Peninsula - thanks Sophie Formica for enjoying our beautiful piece of the world. The following are some pictures of the day from our end of the town - Scarborough.

Amazing and much loved vintage cars everywhere, I want one !

The day had full media coverage, with choppers in the air filming the Super Boat Racing and The Great South East doing a special on the Great Gatsby Picnic, the action never stopped

The lovely Sophie Formica having a picinic at Scarborough Park, I am sure she wont mind this picture of her eating. She is graceful not matter what she is doing .

The amazing, generous and beautiful, full of fun Leonie from Sangas by the Sea got into the mood in this nostalgic outfit and also decorated her lovely cafe.

Not one to shy away from the festivities, Shoes on Scarborough dressed up for the occassion and had a great amount of fun on the day !
